History and prestige return to The Soul of American Road Racing for one of the largest vintage racing events in the country at the Hilliard U.S. Vintage Grand Prix Presented by Mission Foods. The Grand Prix weekend is a true celebration of motorsport’s past, along with the cars and people who have made it what it is today.
As one of the oldest organizations in vintage racing, and the only one with a national presence, SVRA is committed to presenting the best possible experience for our competitors and fans. Our events provide a rolling history of motorsport where the cars are the stars at legendary tracks across the country, including Watkins Glen International. For spectators, the paddock area is all always “open” at no cost beyond admission, offering a level of access to cars and drivers not available in most other forms of motorsport.
Alone, the chance to race a wide variety of vintage cars at Watkins Glen International is fantastic. Adding the the opportunity of running your car in the downtown Grand Prix reenactment on the original 6.6-mile street circuit makes this event combination hard to beat.
As one of the largest annual events at Watkins Glen and an SVRA favorite, this special vintage race weekend brings together hundreds of race cars representing well over 100 years of motorsport pursuits. The on track competition is second to none. Watkins Glen hosted the nation’s first post-war SCCA road race in 1948 before racing moved to the purpose-built 3.4-mile, 11-turn WGI circuit in 1956.
The highlight of the festival is the Watkins Glen International Grand Prix Tribute, where selected vintage sports cars recreate the magic of the original 6.6-mile road course used in the 1948-52 street races—a true crowd favorite!
